Sicily, art and nature. Everything in the sun light.
“The climatic conditions, mild temperatures, the hilly lands, the light sea breeze and the sun light, make Sicily the ideal island for the growth of the vine, making it the “land of wine and olive”.
It is believed that the vine grew spontaneously in Sicily before the appearance of man on Earth, but you can feel the ancient yet current legends that sprang up for the first time on the island, from the tears of a thirsty Dionysius. Thus wine was born, the nectar of the gods, given to men to comfort their labours and delight their senses. It was the Ancient Greeks who first began the production of Sicilian wines. The Phoenicians, skilled sailors, made wine one of the most important trades of that era.
Sicilian wine production: the great movements of their fleets during the nineteenth century, led in fact, to the rise of a “modern” Sicilian wine industry. Today Sicily is by far the Italian region that produces the most wine. Much of this wine is sold in bulk to cut weaker wines: hence the saying “in every Italian wine Sicilian blood flowing.” Next to this mass production, however, there are small producers who make quality their flag and thanks to the special composition of the area give birth to real “pearls of enology”.
